As we all know, the hospital environment is more complex than other public places, so its furniture must be green and environmentally friendly. So how can we make furniture green?
Material
Materials are the basis for greening furniture products. At present, furniture materials are mainly composed of raw materials such as wood, artificial boards, metals, plastics, leather, fabrics, and auxiliary materials such as adhesives, coatings, hardware accessories, and sponges. The following principles should be followed when selecting materials:
(1) Use ecological materials, that is, the materials used should not cause any harm to the human body and the environment, and should be non-toxic, non-polluting, non-radioactive, and noise-free, thus benefiting environmental protection and human health.
(2) Whenever possible, use discarded design materials, such as dismantled wood and hardware, to reduce the pressure on landfills.
(3) Try to use abundant local materials.
(4) Avoid using materials that may release pollutants.
(5) Use renewable materials to the maximum extent possible and use non-renewable materials to the minimum extent possible.
Hospital furniture should follow the principles of green and environmentally friendly design. In addition, the design of medical furniture involves many parameters such as ergonomics, color aesthetics, material properties and functional requirements. Compared with other civilian furniture, medical furniture has higher requirements in terms of safety, humanization, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and durability.
